Bhaktapur

Bhaktapur is one of the Kathmandu Valley's kingdoms. We toured through the ancient buildings being rebuilt post-earthquake, a paper factory, the pottery kilns, and the city's Durbar Square.

Chitwan: jungle

Dugout canoe and elephant rides are the best ways to see crocodiles, rhinos, egrets, deer, monkeys, catfish, and many types of birds that I can't even start to name.

Chitwan: lounging

Around and about in Sauraha, riverside, and lounging at our hotel.

Chitwan: field work

Visits to a co-op fish farm and the the Baghmara Community Forest User Group.

Chitwan: arriving

A stick-shift coach bus delivered us from a windy mountain road to Sauraha, a town outside of Chitwan National Park. Our hotel's neighbors included elephants and some stray rhinos who wandered outside of the jungle. This was our first Chitwan sunset – the first of many outrageously colorful sunsets on the river.
